DIY Halloween Costume - Cindy Lou Who From 'How The Grinch Stole Christmas'

Hello!

Today, I've come back with a DIY Halloween costume. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, so I love to go all out with costumes and such.

If you're a Christmas fanatic like me, you might've watched Dr. Seuss' 'How The Grinch Stole Christmas' a few hundred times.

I'm going to show you guys how to dress up like Cindy Lou Who, one of the Whoville residents.

{THE COSTUME}

{A quick note- sorry this isn't an entire picture of her outfit, this is the most I could find on Google.}

In the movie, Cindy wears a red hooded cape with white, fluffy trim around the hood.

In other scenes, she wears a gray peacoat. To 'Christmas-fy' the coat, you could add the trim or put some Christmas pins on.

The trim is usually at craft stores.

We never see what's under Cindy's cape, but it does appear that she's wearing a Christmas dress with the white trim around the bottom.

Put some white tights on (if it's cold) and some black flats and mary-janes on, and you've got the costume done!

{THE HAIR}

Cindy Lou Who's hair is CRAZY. But, it's not too hard to recreate.

You'll need an empty small plastic water bottle, long hair, ponytail holders, bobby pins, and a hair bow.

  1. Gather a section of hair at the top of your head and use a clip to keep it aside.
  2. Split the rest of your hair in half (right and left sides) and braid until the very end. Use a small ponytail holder to tie it off.
  3. Take your empty bottle and place it in the middle of the hair on top of your head that was sectioned off in step one. Make sure the bottle gets completely covered by hair. Use a ponytail holder to tie off at the top (this should be the where the part of the water bottle you drink out of is found).
  4. Bring each side braid up and use a bobby pin to attach them near the base of the water bottle.
  5. Use a curling iron to curl the braid ends and the ends of the top section.
  6. Decorate with a hair bow.
To add some pizzaz, spray your hair with glitter spray.

Well, there it is! I hope you enjoyed this Halloween costume tutorial.

Have a wonderful week.
