DIY Halloween Costume - Cindy Lou Who From 'How The Grinch Stole Christmas'

Hello!

Today, I've come back with a DIY Halloween costume. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, so I love to go all out with costumes and such.

If you're a Christmas fanatic like me, you might've watched Dr. Seuss' 'How The Grinch Stole Christmas' a few hundred times.

I'm going to show you guys how to dress up like Cindy Lou Who, one of the Whoville residents.

{THE COSTUME}

{A quick note- sorry this isn't an entire picture of her outfit, this is the most I could find on Google.}

In the movie, Cindy wears a red hooded cape with white, fluffy trim around the hood.

In other scenes, she wears a gray peacoat. To 'Christmas-fy' the coat, you could add the trim or put some Christmas pins on.

The trim is usually at craft stores.

We never see what's under Cindy's cape, but it does appear that she's wearing a Christmas dress with the white trim around the bottom.

Put some white tights on (if it's cold) and some black flats and mary-janes on, and you've got the costume done!

{THE HAIR}

Cindy Lou Who's hair is CRAZY. But, it's not too hard to recreate.

You'll need an empty small plastic water bottle, long hair, ponytail holders, bobby pins, and a hair bow.

  1. Gather a section of hair at the top of your head and use a clip to keep it aside.
  2. Split the rest of your hair in half (right and left sides) and braid until the very end. Use a small ponytail holder to tie it off.
  3. Take your empty bottle and place it in the middle of the hair on top of your head that was sectioned off in step one. Make sure the bottle gets completely covered by hair. Use a ponytail holder to tie off at the top (this should be the where the part of the water bottle you drink out of is found).
  4. Bring each side braid up and use a bobby pin to attach them near the base of the water bottle.
  5. Use a curling iron to curl the braid ends and the ends of the top section.
  6. Decorate with a hair bow.
To add some pizzaz, spray your hair with glitter spray.

Well, there it is! I hope you enjoyed this Halloween costume tutorial.

Have a wonderful week.

How To Look Good Without Makeup

Hello! Sorry for my lack of activity, I've had quite the hectic week.

Today's post is all about how to rock little or no makeup.

I don't know about you, but when I can go out and about with no makeup and feel CONFIDENT about my skin, it's an accomplishment.

{TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR SKIN}
-Develop a skin care routine for your skin type
-Don't be too harsh on your skin- use natural products

{TAKE CARE OF YOUR LIPS}
-Moisturize your lips with a balm before bedtime
-Exfoliate your lips now and then
-Drink plently of water- this makes a BIG difference

{SHAPE YOUR EYEBROWS}
-A nice set of brows can frame and flatter your face
-Give them a shape you like
-Keep them trimmed

{MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR HAIR}
-A flattering haircut can help to define your best features
-Experiment...get a new cut or try new hairstyles

{EAT HEALTHY}
-Having a balanced diet and drinking lots of water works wonders
-Work those vitamins and minerals in...they'll show in your skin and hair, and you'll feel great

DIY- 'Glitterized' Pumpkin!

Hello! I'm back today with a super fun and easy DIY...a glitterized pumpkin!

Let's dive right into this one...

{WHAT YOU'LL NEED}
- a pumpkin (any size)
- painter's tape
- clear glue
- glitter (I used gold)

{PREP YOUR PUMPKIN}
If your pumpkin has a bit of dirt on it, I'd suggest washing it off with a hose or in the sink.

Next, take your painter's tape and 'frame' out the design you want on your pumpkin. I did vertical stripes, but you can do almost anything!

{GLITTER TIME}
In the spaces where there's pumpkin exposed, cover it with glitter!

I used a sponge brush to spread the glue, then I sprinkled the glitter on. Make sure to do this step in small sections, so your glue doesn't dry before you get to it.

{REVEAL YOUR PUMPKIN}
Now it's time to reveal your glitterized pumpkin!! Peel of the tape, (carefully) and let the glitter stripes dry.

And that's my finished product!!

I had a lot of fun doing this, and it took about 15 minutes.

Oh, how I adore quick and easy projects!

Have a great Friday everybody

^.^

{40 Beauty Questions}

Hello all! So, get ready for a long post... because it's the 40 beauty questions tag!!
Gee, that's a lot! I suggest we get started...

SKINCARE -
How many times do you wash your face daily?

Two times a day- in the shower in the morning and before bedtime.

What skin type do you have? (dry,oily,combo)
Oily and sensitive! In my opinion, I've got the worst kind of skin.

What is your current facial wash?

Boots Botanics, it work great for me!Do you exfoliate?
No, not as often as I'd like to. Personally, I don't want to strip my face of it's natural oils, causing more acne.

What brand do you use?

So, as I said above, I don't exfoliate much.

What moisturizer do you use?

Because of my oily and acne-prone skin, I don't moisturize every day, maybe once a week. I use a BareMinerals one.

Do you have freckles?

Yes, lots of them! The older I'm getting, they're disappearing :(

Do you use eye cream?
No, but sooner or later I'll probably use it.

Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
I do, since I am young. But, I find that my skin is starting to be a bit nicer to me as time goes on.

Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
No. To me, it looks like it wouldn't work on my acne.

MAKE-UP

What foundation do you use?
Since I am quite lazy, I sometimes just use concealer and a powder, without foundation. That's what I'm currently doing.

How about concealer?
I use Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer + Highlighter. It's amazing!

Do you know your undertone color?
I have a cool skin undertone.

What do you think of fake eyelashes?
Personally, I'm not that fond of them. I'm very picky about my eyes, and I've never found a pair of falsies that I'm in love with.

Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?

Yes! Although I keep mine around 4 months, (hehe) I always try to change them out often.

What brand of mascara do you use?

I'm VERY picky about my mascara. Currently, I'm using  BareMineral's Flawless Definition Voluminous mascara.

Sephora or MAC?

I've actually never tried MAC products before (gasp) and Sephora's always a great place for me to buy
makeup products, but I've never bought their products.

Do you have a MAC Pro-card?
No....

What makeup tools do you use in make up application?
Always brushes, but sometimes my fingers if I'm feeling lazy.

Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?

Yes! Primer is great because I'll get oily eyelids and my eyeshadow will crease without it.

For the face?
Again, yes! I love Neutrogena primers.

What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)?

It depends on the season. This fall, I've been loving golden shades.

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
Liquid eyeliner is someting I haven't mastered yet- so pencil, or even powder.

How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?

Almost never...I'm very slow and steady.

What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
I'm not a big fan of them. I think they're sort of messy... and I'm very accident-prone.

Do you use mineral makeup?

Yes! Not lately though, because I'm discovering lots of great liquid foundations.

What is your favorite lipstick?

I really love any Revlon or BareMinerals lipstick.

How about lipgloss?

For me, lipglosses are a hit or miss. BareMinerals is the only brand that I've found that works for me.

What is your favorite blush to use?
In my opinion, I never need a really nice or high-end blush. I usually just pick up an Elf blush.

Do you buy your makeup on ebay?
Nope.Do you like drugstore makeup?

Yes! I actually love it! I do love some high-end products, but drugstore products can work exactly the same, but for a better price!

Do you go to CCO's? (cosmetic company outlets)

No, but I'd love to check one out sometime!

Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
I actually got to take one on the basics of applying makeup in 5th grade, but I've figured it all out by myself from there.

Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?

Not really, but I can be really hasty and try to go fast sometimes.

Name a makeup crime that you hate?
Oooooo.....I'm very OCD. I really don't like when people get their foundation or concealer shades wrong though.

Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipstick,eyeshadow) or neutral ones?

Not really, I usually stick to neutral shades on my eyes. But I love to use my lips as a statement with red, or darker colors when the time's appropiate.

Which celebrity always has great make up?
I absolutely love Kate Middleton's makeup. As I said before, I love neutral makeup, and she always looks flawless and natural.

If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use?
Hmmmmm......maybe powder. You never want to look shiny!

Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
I do; all the time! If I'm just running out to do errands, or to a friend's house, I usually won't wear makeup.

Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
Yes, I usually only have little acne spots here and there.

In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?

Gosh, this is hard! Maybe BareMinerals or Maybelline.

What do you think of Makeup??

I think it's a fun hobby! Someday, I'd love to have a job in the realm or makeup.

Ok, that was long! I hope you enjoyed this :)

Have a great day. ^.^

First Review: Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer + Highlighter

Hello everyone! I'm back with a first review. I was looking for more concealer at the store the other day, and I was quite disappointed to find that Covergirl didn't have my favorite concealer anymore :-(
And this meant I had to go on a concealer hunt...

After some research, I found that Rimmel's Match Perfection Concealer + Highlighter would suit me well. And guess what... it works AMAZINGLY!!!

So, this is the only concealer I've used that EXACTLY matches my skin tone, whereas others were always a tiny bit off.

With the built-in highlighter, I can use this under my eyes as well, instead of a separate highlighter.

The only thing I'm not too fond of is the tip it comes out of. I've had several lip glosses with the brush tip, so I wasn't too excited to see that my new concealer has this feature. My problem with brush tips? Well, I just have this strange feeling it's going to spread bacteria all over my face. So far, it's working mighty fine despite my worries.

Okie dokie, that's my review for Rimmel's Match Perfection Concealer!
I hope you enjoyed it!
Have a great week
